Chocolate donuts, honey dipped donuts, maple bacon donuts, cinnamon sugar donuts... i want them all. The old me would've said "screw this diet!" and head to the nearest donut shop to fulfill my cravings but this time, i'm making donuts part of my diet.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using a food processor, grind up your quick oats until you get it as close to flour consistency as possible. Add the rest of your ingredients to your food processor until everything is mixed well. Pour batter into a donut pan or see instructions below on how to create donuts without a donut pan, bake for 10 minutes. Place donuts on a cooling rack and while they are still warm, pour your chocolate "icing" on top. Yields 6 donuts.
I didn't have any donut pans but when there's a will, there's a way. Don't underestimate a hungry girl with a sweet tooth! When I googled "how to make donuts without a donut pan", I kept getting results involving the use of aluminum, scissors, rolls, etc, etc, etc. Too complicated. Using a cookie press, I "pressed" the batter onto my pan until it formed a nice full circle and once it was baked, I used an icing tip to poke holes in the middle. Done and done!
